Asocoflores takes home Britcham award just days before COP16

The award was received a few days before Asocolflores participates in the COP16, within the agenda of the Conference of the Entrepreneurial and Productive Sector of Colombia, as well as within the activities scheduled by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

These awards identify and recognize the most efficient social programs and models of entrepreneurial responsibility in Colombia.The flower growers were winners in the “Efficient Use of Water by the Colombian Flower Growing Sector and its Impact in Preserving Biodiversity” project.

Amongst the main aspects taken into consideration by the organizers in selecting Asocolflores for the first prize for its project called “Efficient Use of Water by the Colombian Flower Growing Sector and its Impact in Preserving Biodiversity” are the following:

” A sturdy “Key Performance Indicator System for Floriculture” that contains over 1.5 million data and 30 social-environmental indicators, which has been built throughout 25 years. As well as support from the Florverde Sustainable Flowers Standard, as the backbone of success, certifying that the flower farms comply with the highest international sustainable standards. And the establishment of rooting beds for native species is a key effort for reforestation and improvement of strategic areas for water preservation.These initiatives promote the recovery of diminished ecosystems, increase local biodiversity, and protect river basins that are essential within the water cycle.”

A few days before the commencement of COP16, Asocolflores became a prizewinner of the 2024 Links with Sustainability awards. The awards, presented by the British-Colombian Chamber of Commerce (BRITCHAM), with the support of the British Embassy in Colombia and EAN University, awarded the first prize to the flower growers in the “Actions for Biodiversity in Large Companies” category.
