Initial targets blown out of the water ahead of Onam Festival

This exceeds the initial target of 1,000 acres. Neighboring states have also dedicated nearly 1,000 acres to flower cultivation for the Onam market. Flowers from Gundalpet in Karnataka and various regions in Tamil Nadu are being supplied to Kerala.

While local products have always been the mainstay of Onam festivities, this year marks a significant surge in locally grown flowers spearheaded by women farmer groups under the Kudumbashree Mission. According to Kudumbashree officials, flower cultivation in Kerala has surpassed expectations, covering 1,253 acres of land and involving 3,000 women farmer groups.
