The significance of HortiContact is evident from the fact that it is chosen as the platform to launch innovations. This aligns with the trade fair’s slogan: HortiContact; Where the future begins. Please find below the complete trade fair program and a few examples of the innovations.
One such innovation is the new folding- insect screen system for frameless windows by Alweco. A scale model can be viewed at their booth (no. E129).
Another innovation is Led-e-lux’s water-cooled click profile. This innovation reduces the heat emitted by lamps, preventing the room from warming up. Their booth number is J138.
What about the Cara Met drain sensor? With the Cara Met drain sensor from SenseNL, growers can gain a complete and accurate overview of the substrate’s input, root zone, and output. They can be found at booth I150.
And cocktails at Benfried. On Wednesday evening, at their booth J139, they will have a cocktail shaker. The trade fair will close its doors at 21.00 instead of 18.00, leaving plenty of time for a delicious cocktail.
Moreover, the list of exhibitors includes a remarkably large number of employment agencies. Labor demands a lot of growers’s attention. It’s quite understandable that these companies are registered as exhibitors.
The complete program
Trade fair organizer Easyfairs shared the complete program for the upcoming edition of the horticulture trade fair HortiContact. For the first time, there will be a National Horti Symposium, a World Horti Center Pavilion, a Sustainability and Starting Materials Pavilion, the third edition of the Work & Learn Tour, the Tunnel of the Future, and the ‘Creating Space Café’. HortiContact will open its doors on Tuesday 5, Wednesday 6, and Thursday 7 March in Evenementenhal Gorinchem (The Netherlands).
The National Horti Symposium will discuss the Dutch horticulture sector’s most burning question: How to deal with the sector’s energy risk, and the potential strategies that result from it? Dick Veerman (founder of Foodlog) is the day’s chairman. He will get into conversation with researcher Remco de Boer (Studio Energie), Jelte van Kammen (CEO Harvest House), Bouke Arends (mayor of Westland municipality), and Puck van Holsteijn (CEO of World Horti Center).
The third edition of the Work & Learn Tour is also part of HortiContact. 50 Horticulture & Agribusiness students from Inholland Delft will visit various exhibitors. The so-called Creating Space Café is new at HortiContact. All trade fair visitors can visit the cafe, however, to enter, they must first go through a magical black box. The Creating Space Café is based on the famous Top 2000 Café of Radio2. Visitors can request their songs during their visit.
Tunnel of the Future
The Dutch greenhouse horticulture sector is the most innovative in the world. That’s why the HortiContact Innovation Award was introduced last year. The Innovation Award, which has now become a permanent part of HortiContact, showcases innovations from the sector. During the upcoming edition, the 10 nominated innovations will be on display in the Tunnel of the Future on Next Level. Here, visitors can use the Smart Badge, which they receive upon entry, to vote. Online voting is also possible. The award will be presented on Thursday 7 March at 16.00 on the trade fair floor.
Multiple network terracaces
“The network terraces are making a comeback. The terraces, which are spread across the trade fair, have catering and buffet points so that visitors can enjoy a bit and a drink. In doing so, we aim to bring back the conviviality, while also providing a chance to network,” says Lucas van’t Hof, Head of Cluster Agri & Horti at trade fair organizer Easyfairs.
