Ten Have Plant also focuses on packaging with less environmental impact, resulting in a new smart plastic-free packaging concept.
Ten Have Plant approached Royal FloraHolland in their search for a more sustainable packaging solution for their Canturbery bells. Together, we set to work, resulting in a sustainable, innovative packaging combination.
Canturbery bell in a smart and sustainable concept
Ten Have Plant is a Canturbery bell specialist. Through years of experience in breeding, propagation and cultivation of Canturbery bells, Ten Have Plant offers a wide assortment /range of new varieties with beautiful colours and special plant properties. Vincent ten Have (director Ten Have Plant) says: “We have been using single-use plastic plant trays with a cardboard collar to protect the plant for our Canturbery bells for some time. That works fine, but we still wanted to see if we could reduce our plastic use. We then sat down with Royal FloraHolland which resulted in a beautiful sustainable concept. The box is made of corrugated cardboard (100% FSC) containing an 8-hole cardboard ‘easy-out’ interior in which we can place the Canturbery bell. Due to a cleverness in the design of the box and the interior, the plants can be easily removed from the box without damage. Very convenient and pleasant for the customer. The box also features a removable display for optimal presentation on the shop floor. By the way, the loading remains the same as in a tray: five boxes with eight plants in them on a CC layer.”
Ten Have Plant is currently offering this new packaging solution for Canturbery bell in the Decorum label. From week 8 this year, the first boxes entered the market and many positive reactions have already been received at the spring fair. With this switch from plastic tray to cardboard box, Ten Have Plant is contributing to further sustainability of packaging use in the sector.
